Background Summary:
In order to obtain money under the Byrne Formula Grant, the chief elected officials from 51% of the municipalities
representing 51% of the population must sign a letter agreeing how the money will be spent. The City of Ocoee
Police Department is applying for funding to continue a Dill enforcement program for FY 2005/2006.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Byrne Formula
Grant Letter allowing the City of Ocoee to receive $31,800 to be used toward a Dill enforcement program
Recommendations
It is respectfully recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to
sign the Byrne Formula Grant Letter allowing the City of Ocoee to receive $31,800 to be used toward a Dill
enforcement program .

Byrne Formula Grant Letter
ISSUE
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize the Mayor to sign the Byrne Formula
Grant Letter allowing the City ofOcoee to receive $31,800 to be used toward a DUI enforcement program.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
This year, the Substance Abuse Evaluation Committee and the Substance Abuse Policy Board wishes to submit
the attached Byrne Formula Grant Letter to the Office of Criminal Justice Grants in Tallahassee. This letter lists
the various programs for which participating agencies wish to receive Federal Fiscal Year 2005 Byrne Grant
Formula funds. The City of Ocoee Police Department wishes to continue to fund a DUI Enforcement program,
including a full-time officer with its share of the funds. This program was started in FY2004/2005. This grant
requires no match from the City of Ocoee.
