Subject: 2005-06 Most Valuable Partnership Awards-Admiral Pointe and Sleepy Harbor
Background Summary:
The City of Ocoee Most Valuable Partnership Matching Grants Program has been in operation for several
years. The Program assists neighborhoods and Ocoee organizations with projects that will enhance
property values, educate the public, provide cultural and recreational opportunities, or contribute to the
safety and security of our residents.
Last year's MVP application cycle opened November 1 st with applications due November 30, 2005.
Funding is not given up front, but is reimbursed at the completion of the project. Applicants front the
money and then get a portion back, up to a maximum of $2,500, through the MVP Program.
Organizations that are awarded grant funds are required to submit a Final Report to receive their MVP
grant money. Each year, the deadline to submit the Final Report is September 29.
The Admiral Pointe and Sleepy Harbor Homeowner Associations were awarded MVP grants last year
(2005-06). Admiral Pointe and Sleepy Harbor were awarded $2,500 each.
Both Admiral Pointe and Sleepy Harbor successfully completed their MVP neighborhood improvement
projects. However, they did not submit their Final Reports to meet the September 29, 2006 deadline. (See
attached letters of explanation, and Final Reports.) Therefore, the MVP grant monies that were awarded
in the 2005-06 budget, are no longer available in this year's 2006-07 budget.
Issue:
Should the Mayor and Commissioners approve reimbursing $5,000 to Admiral Pointe and Sleepy Harbor
Homeowner Associations?
Recommendations:
Staff respectfully requests that the Mayor and City Commission approve reimbursing $5,000 to Admiral
Pointe and Sleepy Harbor using monies from the contingency fund. Both HOAs were previously approved
for MVP funds and both organizations have successfully completed their 2005-06 MVP neighborhood
improvement projects.
