HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-10-2018 Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR THE OCOEE FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING HELD MAY 10, 2018 I: CALL TO ORDER CACOFD meeting was called to order by Member Vaughn at 7:05 pm in Station 25 Training Room located at 563 S. Bluford Avenue. A: Pledge of Allegiance was performed. B: Roll Call and Determination of Quorum: Member Vaughn performed roll call and declared quorum (7)met. In attendance(7): Members: Vaughn, Channell, Lawrie, Richardson, Hodge, Lovejoy& Orme. Non-Voting Present: Secretary Peiffer&Deputy Chief Hoover Absent(1): Member Christian Welcome new board members: Lovejoy& Orme by Member Vaughn C: Review Agenda for Tonight's Meeting: Member Vaughn reviewed the agenda for tonight. D. Review of Minutes: Minutes from the August 10, 2017 meeting were reviewed. Motion made by Member Richardson, seconded by Member Channell, and unanimously passed to approve the minutes. II: BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION A: Old Business: Member Vaughn briefly spoke about the passing of Member Titus. Member Vaugn announced the Ocoee Fire Department Open House, which took place Saturday April 28th, was a very successful event. Chief Hoover gave an update on the SAFER grant which allowed the City to hire 12 new firefighters for Engine 38. B: Welcome to the City of Ocoee New Commercial Businesses: Member Vaughn discussed the new businesses that have opened and will be opening soon. C: Under Construction—City Growth: Member Vaughn reviewed a document provided by Fire Marshall Sorenson regarding new buildings. This included Innovation Montessori School located at 1644 Lakewood Ave, 429 Project located at 641 East Crown Point Rd, Maguire Retail located at 10959 W. Colonial Dr.,Taco Bell & Wendy's located at Fountains West, and GameTime located at 9441 W. Colonial Dr. D: Proposed New Meeting Time: Deputy Chief Hoover opened discussion for changing CACOFD meeting from 7:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Motion made by Member Channell, seconded by Member Lovejoy, and unanimously passed to approve meeting time change to 6:00 PM. E: Deputy Chief's Comments: Member Vaughn asked Deputy Chief Hoover for information and updates regarding transport. Deputy Chief Hoover discussed that the fire department is actively working and seeking approval to provide transportation of patients to the hospital by fire department rescues in lieu of the current ambulance services. 1 F: Set Next Agenda: Member Vaughn, along with input from the council members, set the agenda for the next meeting,which will be held on August 9, 2018; said Agenda was established as below: I.
