MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners

RE: NOTIFICATIONS
In the past, City Commissions have not given the City Manager's office a formal policy as to
when they should be notified of events both good and bad that may occur in the City. In
the past, it has been left up to the discretion of the City Manager's office and I can recall
only on one occasion where the City Commission felt that the City Manager's office had been
wrong in not notifying them of an occurrence.
Since each City Commission establishes its own characteristics and its own set of rules, I am
not sure at which point you wish to be contacted for events as they occur.
To this end I am asking that a policy be established for the future use of staff and would also
like to discuss the method of contacting that might be most effective once this policy is
established.
It is not now nor ever the intent of the administration to keep any one in the dark about any
event. It is our responsibility to keep you informed at the level you wish to be informed.
Respectfully Submitted,
