HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-04-1995 Proclamation - Cleanup and Beautify Ocoee Month - April PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, thousands of volunteers have participated in the 1995 Great Florida Cleanup, which took place on April 1, 1995, and will continue throughout the month; and WHEREAS, the purpose of this event is the cleanup of highways, roads, beaches, parks, vacant lots, and illegal dump sites; and WHEREAS, many additional environmental education activities are scheduled throughout the state during the month; and WHEREAS, such activities are held in recognition of Keep Florida Beautiful Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, and the 25th anniversary of Earth Day; and WHEREAS, these activities are aimed at raising public awareness about litter prevention and helping the state reach a 50 percent litter reduction goal; and WHEREAS, the Great Florida Cleanup is a simple, easy way for all Floridians to become directly involved in protecting Florida's environment; and WHEREAS, citizens of Ocoee may take pride in the environment and beauty of our city; and WHEREAS, we must continually strive to maintain the beautiful areas that we have and to work on those areas in need of improvement; then, THEREFORE I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim April as CLEANUP AND BEAUTIFY OCOEE MONTH and urge all citizens to put forth a special effort to cleanup and beautify their own properties and public areas within the city; to be especially aware of litter and make every effort to reduce and remove litter from city streets and public areas; AND FURTHER, I exhort all citizens to get involved and show what volunteerism means to our community, our state, and our country. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto have set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Ocoee, Florida to be affixed this fourth day of April, 1995. S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor
