RE: GIRL SCOUT TROOP 300 - GOLD AWARD PROJECT
Several weeks ago a group of Senior Girl Scouts from Troop 300 came to see me
regarding the possibility of doing landscape improvements at the Withers-Maguire
House for the purposes of receiving their Gold Award, which is the equivalency of
the Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.
To this end, I have asked them to present their request to you at the September 5,
1995 City Commission meeting for your approval.
Respectfully Submitted,

Dear Mr . Shapiro .
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl
Scouting . This award has five requirments :
1 . Earn four interest project patches
2 . Earn the Career Exploration pin
3 . Earn the Senior Girl Scout Leadership award
4 . Earn the Senior Girl Scout Challenge
5 . Participate in a Girl Scout award project
A Girl Scout Gold Award project is an extension and
combination of all that the girls learned in their previous Girl
Scout work. When a scout earns this award, it expresses her
commitment to herself , her community , her world, and her future .
Four young ladies , Valerie McGowin , Cheyana Roberts ,
Chrissy Lawson , and Michelle Lillithorup, from the Senior Girl
Scout Troop 300 , have completed the first four requirements in
their quest to earn the Gold Award . These young ladies would
prefer their project to benefit the citizens of Ocoee . As the
Withers-Maguire house is on the historical register , they would
like to improve the landscaping of our historical landmark.
We request permission to undertake the project of landscaping
the Withers-Maguire house . We understand the many constraints
applicable to this project . We will strive to comply with all
mandates .
Our plan to revise the landscaping of the Withers-Maguire
house is as follows :
* The fall months are to used as research, design, and to
obtain commitments from others to help with this project .
* January and February will see basic ground improvements such
as the removal of necessary plants and possible installation of an
irrigation system.
* The second weekend of March will be the Landscaping
Labor Day .
We look forward to hearing from you on a day that we may
present our plan to the City Commission of Ocoee , the Historical
Commission, and any other you deem necessary.
Sincerely Yours ,
/ , -
