FOR THE OCOEE FIRE DEPARTMENT
MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 8,2018
I: CALL TO ORDER
CACOFD meeting was called to order by Member Vaughn at 6:05 pm in Station 25 Training Room located at 563 S.
Bluford Avenue.
A: Pledge of Allegiance was performed.
B: Roll Call and Determination of Quorum: Secretary Peiffer performed roll call and declared quorum(5)met.
In attendance(5):
Members: Vaughn, Channell,Lawrie, Gillis, and West II.
Non-Voting Present:
Secretary Peiffer&Fire Chief John Miller
Absent(2):
Members Richardson,Hodge, Christian,Lovejoy and Orme.
Welcome new board members: Christopher West II, by Chair Vaughn.
C: Review Agenda for Tonight's Meeting: Chair Vaughn reviewed the agenda for tonight.
D. Review of Minutes: Minutes from the August 9, 2018 meeting were reviewed.
Motion made by Member Channell, seconded by Member Gillis,and unanimously passed to approve the
minutes.
II:BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION
A: Old Business: Chair Vaughn briefly spoke about scheduling more events with the public and the fire
department as previously discussed in last meeting. Chair Vaughn stated we would revisit this after the holidays
as there is so much going on already and the fire department is gearing up for transport.
B: Under Construction—City Growth: Chair Vaughn discussed grand opening of City Furniture a 250,000 SF
building located at 643 East Crown Point Road with offices, showroom and warehouse.
C: Upcoming Events: Chair Vaughn discussed the annual Operation Santa event. Cards and information were
handed out with dates and times so members could sign up to volunteer on the float. Chair Vaughn also brought
up the upcoming Fire Department Promotional/Retirement Ceremony on November 13`h. Chief Miller asked
members to please wear CACOFD shirts and join the ceremony to present Deputy Chief Hoover with retirement
statue.
D: Transport Update: Chief Miller discussed update regarding transport. We have hired six new firefighters and
are in process of hiring two more to cover the additional rescues. The Ocoee Fire Department estimates to
transport 3,200 patients and will continue to make adjustments for peak rescue units as needed. Chief
Miller briefly spoke about our current accreditations and that we would pursue more as we become
a transporting agency.
E: Chief's Comments: Chief Miller discussed Operation Santa and possibly moving up the Annual Fire
Department Open House to March or April when it is still a little cooler outside.
F: Set Next Agenda: Chair Vaughn, along with input from the council members, set the agenda for the next
meeting,which will be held on February 21,2019 due to the second Thursday falling on Valentine's Day; said
Agenda was established as below:
