OCOEE, FLORIDA 34761-2258 E*cf 000a`' (407) 656-2322 FAX(407) 656-5725 MEMORANDUM To: The Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners From: Jean Grafton, City Clerk Date: March 11, 1999 Re: Appointments to Boards Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Police Department(3 year terms) Mr. Edward Dorfman resigned last month because he was moving out of the City. His term would have expired February 1, 2001. Action needed: Appointment to complete term to February 1, 2001. Code Enforcement Board (3 year terms) In January, Mrs. Patricia Tice was appointed as an alternate member to complete a term to expire September, 2001. Due to health problems she will be unable to serve. Mr. Robert Godek, who had served on the Code Enforcement Board from May, 1996 to January, 1999, was not considered for reappointment in January because his work required him to be out-of-state. His work status has changed and he now wishes to be considered for appointment on CEB, should you wish to do so. He has submitted a new application and it is attached. Action needed: Appointment of alternate to complete Mrs. Tice's term to September, 2001. Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (2 year terms) The term of Mr. Jim Beech, who was first appointed to the board on October 7, 1997, will expire April 1, 1999, and he is willing to serve a new term should you wish to reappoint him. The new term will expire October 1, 2000 as outlined in City Attorney Rosenthal's memorandum dated November 11, 1998. (copy attached) Action needed: Appointment/Reappointment for term to expire October 1, 2000. Personnel Board (3 year terms) The terms of all five members on this board will expire March 16, 1999. The expiration of Commissioner Howell's term and the appointment of a Commissioner to the board will have been considered earlier in the meeting. The other four members,Mrs. Debbie Bertling, Mrs. Jean Grafton, Mrs. Betty Hager, and Mr. John Resnik, have all served since they were appointed March 16, 1993, and are willing to serve new terms should you wish to reappoint them. Action needed:Appointment/Reappointment of 4 members for terms to expire March 16, 2002. "PRIDE OF WEST ORANGE" Planning and Zoning Commission(3 year terms) As provided by the adoption of Ordinance No. 99-09, appointment of a ninth member is needed for a term to expire February, 2002. CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT Meets 3rd Thursdays, alternate months, 7:00 p.m. No less than 15 members, no more than 25 members - 3 year terms Duties: To promote and maintain communication, cooperation and a positive relationship between the citizens of the City of Ocoee and the Ocoee Police Department. CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD Meets 4th Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. 7 members, 2 alternates - 3 year terms (Membership will, when practicable, include an architect, a businessman, an engineer, a general contractor, a sub-contractor and a realtor) . Duties: To review infractions of City technical codes, negotiate compliance and impose fines for failure to comply. EDUCATION COMMISSION Meets 1st Mondays, 7:00 p.m. No less than 7 members, no more than 15 members - 2 year terms (Membership shall include at least one representative member for each public school within the City.) Duties: To improve the quality of education for Ocoee students by serving as an advisory body to the City Commission on education issues within the City. PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD Meets 3rd Mondays, alternate months, 7:30 p.m. 13 members - 2 year terms Duties: To advise the City Commission, City Manager and Recreation Director on the operation of the City's parks, recreational facilities and programs.
