The City of Ocoee Second Annual Safety Spring Fling will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the City
Municipal Complex. In order in help ensure a safe event, organizers are requesting the closure of Oakland
A venue between Bluford Avenue and Lakeshore Drive; and Lakeshore Drive between the boat ramp and
Oakland Avenue between the hours of9AM and 5PM that day.

Recommendations
It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the closure of Oakland
Avenue between Bluford Avenue and Lakeshore Drive; and Lakeshore Drive between the boat ramp and
Oakland Avenue on March 24, 2007 from 9AM to 5PM for the City of Ocoee Second Annual Safety Spring
Fling.

ISSUE

between Bluford A venue and Lakeshore Drive; and Lakeshore Drive between the boat ramp and Oakland
Avenue on March 24, 2007 from 9 AM to 5PM for the City of Ocoee Second Annual Safety Spring Fling?
BACKGROUNDIDISCUSSION
The City of Ocoee Child Protection Recommendation Committee held its first Safety Spring Fling in March of
2006 at the City Municipal Complex. Approximately 500 people participated. The City of Ocoee Second
Annual Safety Spring Fling will be held Saturday, March 24,2007 at the City Municipal Complex. In order in
help ensure a safe event, organizers are requesting the closure of Oakland Avenue between Bluford Avenue and
Lakeshore Drive; and Lakeshore Drive between the boat ramp and Oakland Avenue between the hours of9AM
and 5PM that day.
Community sponsors, citizen volunteers, neighboring agencies, and employees from City of Ocoee departments
such as Community Relations, Fire, Police, Public Works, and Recreation are providing the required resources
and staffing at minimal costs.
Police and Public Warks representatives have determined that the road closures will have minimal impact on the
area. Event staff will notify effected residents and assist them with access and egress from their houses. The
boat ramp will remain open and the majority of the boat ramp parking will be available to boaters.
