Of GOO ELLIS SHAPIRO MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners FROM: Mark W. Brace, CPPB, Buyer 15 DATE: 30 May, 1996 RE: PURCHASE OF COLOR TELEVISION INSPECTION AND SEALING SYSTEM The Wastewater Department has requested a Color Television Inspection and Sealing System which was approved in this year's budget. The Department of Water & Sewers for the City of Hialeah, Florida, had sent out proposals for exactly the same system as requested and awarded the purchase of this system to Cues, Inc. of Orlando, Florida. I have on file written permission from the City of Hialeah and Cues, Inc. to piggyback from this awarded proposal for the same price of $117,790. 00. Please refer to the attached Memorandum, dated May 30, 1996, from Donald Carter, Finance Supervisor (through Wanda Horton, Finance Director) , to Ellis Shapiro, City Manager, which explains how this system was originally budgeted and which further outlines their recommendation for acquisition of the requested system. ACTION REQUESTED The Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize (1) transfer of $87,790. 00 from Contingency in the Waste Water Fund to cover the capital expense for the acquisition of a Color Television Inspection and Sealing System, and (2) authorize the purchase of the System from Cues, Inc. for the total price of $117,790. 00. e/-5 "CENTER OF GOOD LIVING - PRIDE OF WEST ORANGE" MAYOR• COMMISSIONER OCOee S.SCOTT VANDERGRIFT er i • COMMISSIONERS a CITY OF OCOEE CORUSTYANDERSON SCOTT ANDERSON SCOTT A.GLASS ;t\V..... It is the Finance Department's opinion it would be more advantageous for the City to outright purchase this equipment instead of leasing. Unfortunately, this item was not included in the Mid Year Budget Amendment but due to the savings that purchasing versus leasing would realize, it is only fair to the rate payers to seek approval from the City Commission for the purchase. An outright purchase would save the City $ 15,500. The price of the Televising Truck is $ 117,790. Presently, the Contingency Account in the Waste Water Fund has $ 552, 346.33 available, of which only $ 87,790 is needed for the purchase. Therfore, we recommend a transfer from Contingency of $ 87,790 for the purchase of the Televising Truck. cc: Mark Brace, Buyer
