STgFF REPORT
TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
FROM: Joyce Tolbert, Buy'
DATE: March 25, 2002
RE: Purchase of New City Vehicles FY 01/02
The budget for Fiscal Year 01/02 includes the lease-purchase of ten (10) new vehicles for the
Police Department, two (2) new vehicles for the Utilities Department, one (1) new vehicle for
Protective Inspections Department, and one (1) new vehicle for the Recreation Department, per
the attached listing.
The best pricing for the vehicles was found through the Sheriffs Office & Local Governmental
Agencies of the State of Florida Cooperative Bid #01-09-0904. However, due to the late order
for the police pursuit vehicles, the City is unable to utilize the vendor on the Florida Sheriffs bid,
per the attached letter from Ford Motor Company. The police vehicles were found at another
dealership, and the City may piggyback on Seminole County's Bid #A/B-340/JVP. The other
vehicles were unaffected by the manufacturer deadline, and the City may piggyback on the
Florida Sheriffs bid for those vehicles. The total cost for the vehicles is $279,439.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Commission 1) Approve piggybacking on the Florida Sheriffs
Office & Local Governmental Agencies of the State of Florida bid, and the Seminole County
bid, and 2) Authorize staff to secure financing for the vehicles and authorize the Mayor and City
Clerk to execute the lease documents.
