SUBJECT: Roadway Work at Foxfire Subdivision
On Friday, June 5, 1992, a 6-inch water main broke at the Foxfire Subdivision causing
considerable damage to the roadway on the corner of Owltree Street and Starfire Lane, which
required repair of 60' x 20' section of pavement. Because of traffic hazards and with City
Manager's approval, this job was considered an emergency.
For the repair work, three bids were submitted as follows:
Central Florida Underground, Inc. $8,633.60
Sunshine Building & Development Corp. $8,424.00
The Hall Company $8,300.00
On the basis of immediate responsiveness, the job was awarded to Sunshine Building &
Development Corp. in the amount of $8,424.00.
Three bids were also requested from soil testing companies for verifying the required Florida
Department of Transportation compaction tests, as follows: ,
Michael D. Sims & Associates $235.00
Ardaman & Associates $117.00
Tri-County Testing, Inc. No response.
The testing job was awarded to Ardaman & Associates.

The pavement replacement work is now completed and traffic has been reopened.
I recommend that the City Commission authorize the expenditure of $8,541.00 from Water
Contingency to pay for this emergency project.
