Proclamation
WHEREAS, home care is the oldest and most humane tradition of health service delivery in
the United States, enabling the ill and disabled to receive high quality medical
assistance and retain a sense of dignity and independence in the comfort and
security of their own homes; and
WHEREAS, home care in the United States is a growing alternative to hospitalization for acute
and chronic illnesses, with an estimated expenditure of$30 billion for services to
more than 7 million Americans; and
WHEREAS; thousands of hardworking men and women, in association with more than 18,850
home care agencies, unite caring and modern technology by providing cost-
effective home health care services that stimulate quicker and fuller recoveries
and improvements than institutional care; and
WHEREAS, these dedicated home care professionals and volunteers form a network of caring
support in our nation's vast health care system and are deserving of special honor
,and appreciation for their many contributions; and
WHEREAS, the National Association for-Home Care and more than 18,850 home care
agencies have declared the month of November 1996 as National Home Care
Month and are calling upon all Americans to observe this occasion with
appropriate ceremonies and activities,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby declare
November 1, 1996 through November 30, 1996, as
HOME CARE MONTH
in Ocoee and I urge all of our citizens to support the home care profession in its efforts to
provide safe, affordable and comfortable health care in the homes of our elderly, disabled
and infirm. -
