We need weekly at Ocoee United Methodist Church. We have decided to meet throughout the Summer and do service projects. We would like to be granted permission to erect a Peace Pole here in Ocoee. A peace pole is a 4 inch square pole painted white with a decorative fence post topper. The purpose of a peace pole is to serve as a reminder. It should remind all who see it of peace. The words"Peace On Earth" are on each side of the peace pole in four different languages(we chose Spanish,French, German, and English.) The significance of using different languages is to show diversity among people around the world. A sketch of a peace pole is attached. We have also attached two drawings detailing the areas where we would like to place the peace pole. Our first choice is behind the newly planted group of trees in front of the Gazebo. Second choice is in the area in front of the Ocoee Community Center's entrance. When we erect the peace pole,we would like to plant a small garden in a circular bed at the base of it. The garden would consist of Loriope and Heather plants. Measurements of the bed can be found on each of the drawings attached. The peace pole and the garden will be installed by the girls of Troop 902 along with the assistance of the troop leaders and parents on an as needed basis. A date to install the peace pole will be determined when and if the Board of Comissioners grants us permission to do so. Representatives of our troop will be in attendance at the July 1st meeting. Should you have any questions that are not answered within these pages, please ask the troop representatives. Thank you for your consideration.
