MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
of the City of Ocoee
FROM: Paul E. Rosenthal, Esq. , City Attorney fciA.
DATE: May 12, 1998
RE: City of Ocoee Education Commission
Pursuant to the direction of the City Commission, I have met
with the City Staff and Lester Dabbs to discuss the proposed City
of Ocoee Education Commission. After receiving their input, I have
prepared a proposed a Resolution which would establish the
Education Commission as a permanent advisory body to the City
Commission. Attached hereto is the proposed Resolution.
Should the City Commission adopt the Resolution, it would then
be necessary to initially appoint a Chairman who would serve until
July 15, 2000 . Additionally, up to 14 other members of the
Education Commission would need to be appointed. The Resolution
provides that the members of the Education Commission will have
staggered two year terms based upon a July 15 expiration date.
The members would hold an organizational meeting and adopt their
own rules of procedure consistent with the Resolution.
Mr. Shapiro, Ms. Grafton and Mr. Dabbs have all reviewed and
approved the proposed Resolution and recommend its adoption to the
City Commission.
