Dear Commissioners City of Ocoee
The West Orange FFA Chapter is not requesting a specific grant from
The City of Ocoee. The city has supported our chapter with various
contributions in the past and they have always been appreciated.
Kindra Harrington has requested to give a short presentation at your
meeting as a requirement of The Youth Steer Show Program at The Florida
State Fair, Kindra is raising our chapter steer for this years State Fair. The
students must have 3 talks before different types of groups as part of the
requirement of The Youth Steer Futurity Program.
The steers do not sell at auction at the State Fair but are sold at rail price.
This means that in order to make a profit students earn points for presenting
talks and they find sponsors to contribute to the cost of raising the steer.
If the City would like to contribute to the cost of raising the steer, that
would be appreciated. However, we would also be appreciative if Kindra could
present her talk on the State Fair Program allowing her to receive 30 points in
the Achievement Awards Program at the $tate Fair.
The money from the chapter steer is used to support the many activities
our FFA chapter participates in. This year The West Orange FFA chapter was
recognized as a Gold Star Chapter at the National FFA Convention in Louisville,
Kentucky this past November. These awards are presented to the top FFA
chapters in the country for their chapter accomplishments for the year. Kindra
attended the convention to pickup this award for our chapter.
Sincerely,
ifri
