Agenda 2-01-2000 Item IIA 1 Summary of the Ocoee/West Orange County Study Purpose of Study • Evaluate interchange modifications identified by the City of Ocoee in an effort to relieve congestion on SR 50. • Develop and evaluate feasible options for additional interchanges on the Turnpike between SR 50 and I-4. Background and Status ♦ Turnpike study started in the Summer of 1999 to evaluate City of Ocoee options • Modify Ocoee/Turnpike interchange and connector to SR 50, and extend to connect with Marshall Farms north of SR 50 and Windermere south of the Turnpike • Add the Western Extension ramps to and from south • Add Clarke Road ramps with the Western Extension (to and from the west), or add ramps to and from the west to OOCEA's Good Homes Road '/2 interchange • Turnpike added the study of additional Turnpike interchanges between SR 50 and I-4 • Avalon(CR 545) • Main(CR 535) • Apopka-Vineland • Hiawassee • Conroy • Kirkman • Conducted an environmental and engineering"fatal flaw"screening of all options ♦ Issue of the extension of the East—West Expressway to US 27 was added • Interim report produced in November 1999 on work to date • Report and analysis to be completed once decisions are made on the East—West Extension and need to coordinate recommendations with SOCTAS Options Still Under Consideration • City of Ocoee recommendations • Ocoee/Turnpike interchange — extend present connector to SR 50 south to Windermere Road • Western Extension ramps to and from the south — if another new interchange is implemented between the Western Extension and I-4 • Good Homes Road ramps to and from the west — if Western Extension ramps are implemented (these ramps are on OOCEA's East — West, and OOCEA must approve advancing the project) Other new Turnpike Interchanges • Avalon or Main between SR 50 and Ocoee Interchange • Hiawassee and/or Kirkman January 25,2000 RHANGE m ON Lake Apopka WI MINTE ODIFICCATION ; • cc W wi for E GARDEN WITH TURNPIKE ' O h _ NEW WESTBOUND ACCESS TO 3` . Orlando A e S y m - AND EASTBOUND EXIT FROM .
