Proclamation
WHEREAS, the Caribbean Americans living in the Greater Central Florida area have grown
to 60,000 members; and
WHEREAS, they are celebrating their Second Annual Caribbean Community Awards Dinner
Banquet and Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the Caribbean American Connection will honor several prominent members of
the community for their outstanding commitment and dedication in promoting
and maintaining the Culture, Education and Well-being of the Caribbean
American Community at large; and
WHEREAS, our City of Ocoee has become a truly International City of Citizens of all
nationalities, and many are Caribbean Americans; and
WHEREAS, we rejoice at anyone that gives of themselves to the betterment of mankind; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby
proclaim APRIL 22, 2000, as
CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY DAY
in the City of Ocoee and that the good work of the Caribbean American community volunteers
be recognized in our city and throughout the areas with the posting of this Proclamation; and
FURTHER PROCLAIM on behalf of all the citizens, I want to thank those that give so much
of themselves to keep America the greatest place on earth to live.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Ocoee, Florida to be affixed this 25th day of February, 2000.•

The Caribbean American Connection is pleased to extend an invitation
to you to attend, CARIBBEAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY AWARDS and
DINNER BANQUET 2000.
The historic event will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2000 at THE
TUPPERWARE CONVENTION CENTER, located at 14901 Orange Blossom
Trail, Orlando.
There will be Speeches,Music, Entertainment,, Dinner and Awards
Presentation. The event starts at 7:30 p.m: . Dinner will be served
at 8:00 p.m.
I hope your ,schedule will permit you to accept this invitation.
Positive named recognition will be given to all Honored Guests in
attendance.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend with a
guest.

The secound annual Caribbean American Achievement Awards and
Dinner Banquet will be held at TUPPERWARE CONVENTION
CENTER on Saturday April 22nd, 2000.
I hope your schedule this year, will permit you to attend this
very .special celebration. A formal invitation will be sent to you
in the near future.
Several prominent members of the Central Florida Governments and
the Ambassadors of 11 Caribbean Countries, will be in attendance
at this year's ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS CEREMONY. Including,
Alzo Reddick, State Representatitre, Mel Martinez, Orange County
Chairman and Homer Hartage, District Commissioner.
I respectfully request that you ISSUE THIS YEAR'S PROCLAMATION
in recognition of the event and" of the hundreds of Caribbean
Americans who are residents of your City.
Local Government representatives of Osceola are expected to attend
also.
I am enclosing a copy of last year's proclamation issued by you.
This year, I am requesting that the contents of. your proclamation
