WHEREAS, the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust included the murders of six million Jews and
the suffering of millions of other people at the hands of the Nazis; and
WHEREAS, the atrocities of the Holocaust are abhorred by our free society; and
WHEREAS, our constant dedication to the principle of equal justice for all people is needed
to prevent a reoccurrence of such a catastrophe; and
WHEREAS, it is extremely important for the citizens of our City, our State and our Nation to
unite for peace and to rid ourselves of prejudice and inhumanity;
.lViwe heacAarz I. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim
May 4, 1997 to be
DAY OF REMEMBRANCE - YOM HASHOAH
in the City of Ocoee, and urge all citizens to be ever mindful of this tragedy and to constantly
strive for harmony with all people.
