Mark, Chief of Police /1 " ' DATE: January 09, 1998 SUBJECT: REQUEST TO PURCHASE: FILE SERVER COMPUTER FOR 9-1-1 EMERGENCY SYSTEM STAFF REPORT ISSUE Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the purchase of a Computer File Server to be used by the Ocoee Police Department's Emergency 9-1-1 System. BACKGROUND On February 18, 1997, the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approved the Interlocal Agreement between Orange County and the City of Ocoee, after Orange County enacted Ordinance No. 95-27 which a monthly service fee in the amount of.50 cents for the 9-1-1 system was included on monthly telephone bills for all telephone accounts within Orange County. Which ultimately made available funds to be used for the Emergency 9-1-1 System in Ocoee. DISCUSSION Since joining into the Interlocal Agreement, the Ocoee Police Department has received reimbursement for expenditures incurred relating to the operation of the Emergency 9-1-1 System, dependant upon the percentage of 9-1-1 calls received through the Ocoee Police Department Communications Center. To date we have been reimbursed $30,035.59. In accordance with the Interlocal Agreement and Florida State Statute 365.1657, all reimbursed funds must be used for the operation of the Emergency 9-1-1 System. With the recent purchase of the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, for the Ocoee Police and Fire Departments, the Emergency 9-1-I System confidential information will be linked into our computer system,which currently does not have use of a File Server which is in a secure environment (at the Police Department). We have located a compatible File Server for our CAD system. This is a Dell PowerEdge 2200 Server, The Dell PowerEdge 2200 Server is a 233MHz Pentium, which is IBM compatible, has 128MB RAM with three, 2GB hard drives and associated communication cards. The cost of this File Server, with modem, is $8,599.00, per Florida State Contract Number 250-040-96-1.
