Proclamation
WHEREAS, safety of our citizens is the foremost goal of local,state,and national
governments;and
W II EREAS, the ability to exercise the rights and freedoms as set forth by our Forefathers
depends upon law and order;and
WI IEREAS, the enforcement of law and order is a primary function of government;and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement is one of the few chosen professions that require the willingness
to lay down one's life to protect others;and
WHEREAS, the daily performance of a Law Enforcement Officer's normal duty is dangerous,
stress-filled.often unappreciated and requires a special person with a supportive
family;and
WHEREAS, the Ocoee Police Department is comprised of the finest officers,supervisors,
dispatchers,administrative and support staff that can he found,
NOW TheTC/Ore,I, S.Scott Vandergrift,Mayor of the City of Ocoee,do hereby declare
the observance of May 10- 16, 1998 as:
NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
and,May 15, 1998 as:
NM tONAI.PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY
in the City of Ocoee,and I urge all citizens to take the time to thank those in Law Enforcement
for the important service they provide to all of us.
