FLIPPEN, BUILDING AND ZONING OFFICIAL `D 7- DATE: OCTOBER 14, 1998 SUBJECT: TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A PUBLIC STREET ISSUE Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the temporary closing of a public street for the purposes of a Halloween block party? BACKGROUND/D1S C USSION In order to temporary close a public street, the approval of the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners is required. John Fredricksen of the Silver Glen Homeowners Association has made application to the City for a Special Events Permit for a Halloween block party for the Silver Glen Subdivision that would require the temporary closing of a City owned street. The event will be held on October 31, 1998 from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm. The street to be closed is Silver Crest Boulevard which is the main entrance to the Silver Glen Subdivision. See attached location map. There arc two other entrances into the Silver Glen Subdivision, both of which will be open.
