Proclamation
WHEREAS, safety of our citizens is the foremost goal of local,state,and national
governments;and
WI IEREAS, the ability to exercise the rights and freedoms as se Beth by our Fordullters
depends upon law and order:and
WI IEREAS, the enforcement of law and order is a primary function of government;and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement is one of the few chosen professions that require the willingness
to lay down one's life to protect others;and
W I IEREAS, the daily performance of a Law Enforcement Officer's normal duty is dangerous,
stress-filled,often unappreciated and requires a special person with a supportive
family;and
WHEREAS, the Ocoee Police Department is comprised of the finest officers,supervisors,
dispatchers,administrative and support staff that earl he found,
Now. 71wrelbiC,I, S.Scott Vandergrift,Mayor of the City of Ocoee,do hereby declare
the observance of May 9-15, 1999 as:
NATIONAL POLICE WEEK
and May 6,1999 as:
NATIONAL PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY
in the City of Ocoee,and I urge all citizens to take the time to thank those in l.aw Enforcement
for the important service they provide to all of us.
