vWe build strong kids,
e strong families, strong communities.
De: Mr. Vandergrift,
As . member of the 1999 Youth Scholarship Campaign Committee, I am pleased to present you
wi . .'s request to participate in the West Orange YMCA Scholarship Campaign.
Nev + before has the timing been more critical for life-changing opportunities to be made
ay.' :ble to the members of our community. Young people and families in our neighborhoods so
urg tly need opportunities for positive social and recreational experiences in answer to the
neg: 've influences in today's society.
Atta'hed is a copy of our Youth Scholarship Case Statement, which more clearly outlines the
f• of the Campaign. Your support will provide a variety of activities at a fraction of the cost
to h dreds children and adults in the following programs:
• 90 children will attend Summer Day Camp
• 300 children will participate in aquatics and youth sports
• 50 children and adults will receive swim lessons
• 100 children and adults will receive membership privileges
A p .dge from the City of Ocoee would be a major factor in setting the pace for other giving, and
will -inforce the vitality of YMCA programs and services in West Orange County for
gen, ations to come. We are trying to raise $40,000 and are hoping the City of Ocoee may be
des' .us of giving$2,000. If you see your way clear to do so, it will be an enormous help. You
ma 1 .ve it in mind to give more; you may feel you cannot give as much, but whatever you give
will .- deeply appreciated.
In 1 '8,the City of Ocoee gave the West Orange YMCA$1,000 to the Youth Scholarship
C• •aign. This money was used to teach 20 children to swim and 10 children were able to
att• • Summer Camp. We are very grateful of the City's past support and are hoping it will
con.nue.
My •any thanks for your interest and support. More importantly, our sincere appreciation for
this ritical investment in the future of your YMCA.
Sin..rely,
i
