_Know we:
WHEREAS, the State of Florida has for some time experienced a series of wildfires at different
locations throughout the State which continue to the present; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Forestry uses a numerical index to measure the potential for
wildfires on which a value exceeding 400 denotes a significant danger of fire, and
that Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida, has been informed that at present the index
exceeds a value of 600; and
WHEREAS, the St. John's Water Management District Governing Board has approved the
issuance of a voluntary water shortage warning, which is above and beyond
SJWMD's permanent water conservation rule, which prohibits lawn and landscape
irrigation between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Governor Bush has promulgated Executive Order Number 99-88, declaring a state
of emergency throughout the State of Florida because of the extended drought and
the resulting potential for wildfires, and that in the event of a recurrence of fires,
the emergency is likely to exceed the capability of local firefighting resources to
meet it; and
WHEREAS, the State Comprehensive Emergency Management plan has been activated,
directing all state and local agencies to coordinate their activities in accordance
with the Plan; and
WHEREAS, in light of the fact that there is a water shortage and an Executive Order in place,
the citizens of Ocoee can help in fulfilling their responsibilities in order to prevent water shortage
and�wildfires.
