Proclamation
WHEREAS, the Caribbean Americans living in the Greater Central Florida area have grown
to 60,000 members; and
WHEREAS, they are celebrating their First Annual Caribbean Community Awards Dinner
Banquet and Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, the theme is "200 years of Caribbean American Contributions to the USA;" and
WHEREAS, this event will honor members of the community who have dedicated their time
and lives to helping the poor and needy of our community; and
WHEREAS, our City of Ocoee has become a truly International City of Citizens of all
nationalities, and many arc Caribbean Americans; and
WHEREAS, we rejoice at anyone that gives of themselves to the betterment of mankind; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, du hereby
proclaim APRIL 24, 1999, as
CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY DAY
in the City of Ocoee and that the good work of the Caribbean American community volunteers
be recognized in our city and throughout the areas with the posting of this Proclamation; and
FURTHER PROCLAIM on behalf of all the citizens, I want to thank those that give so much
of themselves to keep America the greatest place on earth to live.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Ocoee, Florida to be affixed this 16th day of April, 1999.
