10 Years James W. Shira
Jim Shira is our City Engineer/Utilities Director who came to the City
of Ocoee in June of 1989. Back then, Jim WAS the entire Engineering
Department for the City. For over 10 years, Jim has built both the
Engineering and Utilities Departments to be the envy of the entire State
of Florida. It is well known that our Water and Wastewater Facility
tours are very popular and requested on a regular basis.
In addition to the development of state-of-the art facilities, Jim has
cultivated his favorite hobby of growing mutant worms that have also
placed Ocoee on the map.
Along with his plaque, Jim will receive $100 gift certificate to spend on
himself(or his worm buddies) at the West Oaks Mall.

25 YEARS Mattie Jean Grafton
Way back on July 1, 1974, Mattie Jean Grafton was hired by the City of
Ocoee. Over the years, Mattie Jean has performed a wide array of
tasks ascm employee of the City, from performing weddings to assisting
citizens with the purchase of cemetery lots. I'm sure she can tell a story
or two. All questions on the history of Ocoee get referred to Miss Jean.
Her debut as Acting City Clerk began on July 25, 1988, and was
officially promoted to City Clerk on August 23, 1988.
Along with her plaque, Jean will receive a $350.00 gift certificate to the
West Oaks Mall to shop until she drops!!! Also she is able to pick out a
$200.00 momento from the O.C. Tanner Catalog.

10 YEARS Yancy T. Cleveland
Yancy began working for the City of Ocoee as a Firefighter on June
28, 1989. With time, training and devotion, Yancy was promoted to
Engineer on March 10, 1994. Opportunity came knocking once more
as he was promoted to Lieutenant on September 12, 1996. He is an
asset to the Fire Department and the City as a whole.
Along with his plaque, Yancy will receive $100.00 gift certificate to
spend at the West Oaks Mall. Have Fun!!!

5 YEARS William C. Glascock
William Glascock, Bill as we all know him by, came to the City of Ocoee
seeking employment as a Police Officer. On June 13, 1994, his dream
became reality when he was sworn in as a Police Officer. Through
hard work and dedication Bill was temporary reassigned to the
Criminal Investigations Division, as a Detective on November 13, 1997.
If anyone needs to find Bill, you can still seek him out in this Division.
Along with his plaque, Bill will receive a City of Ocoee Watch as well as
a $50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall.

5 YEARS Brian Keith Hendrix
Keith Hendrix began working for the City of Ocoee as a Refuse
Collector on June 14, 1994. In April of 1995, Keith was reclassified as a
Sanitation Drive I. When an opportunity presented itself in the PPTD
(Parks, Parkways, Trees & Drainage) Department, Keith transferred
on January 5, 1996, as a Laborer. With changes going on, Keith was
reclassified as a Maintenance Worker I under the Parks Maintenance
Division of the Public Works Department. Keith's hard work and
dedication can be seen throughout the City.
Along with his plaque, Keith will receive a City of Ocoee Watch as well
as a $50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall.

5 YEARS Athena C. Cronnon
On August 9, 1993 Thea Cronnon began working for the City of Ocoee
as a part-time receptionist. Along came an opportunity for a full-time
position as Building Clerk, which Thea received on June 13, 1994. With
hard work and ambition, Thea was promoted to a Code Enforcement
Officer on February 13, 1997. Then on June 29, 1998 she transferred to
the Utilities Department as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
Trainee. Thea has also dedicated her time for the past 4 years working
on the committee for the Annual City Picnic.
Along with Thea's plaque, she will receive a City of Ocoee Watch as
well as a $50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall.
