WAGNER Russ Wagner is our Director of Planning and first started working for the City on January 2, 1985 under a City Manager called Teddy Ryan as a City Planner. During that time span Russ was also the Chairman for the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Russ resigned from the City on June 23, 1988. On July 26, 1993, Russ was asked to return to the City by the present City Manager, Ellis Shapiro as the Director of Planning. Under the leadership of Russ Wagner as the Director of Planning our City is growing and our planning department is well recognized in Central Florida. Along with his plaque, Russ Wagner will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"J. C. Penneys"in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS CURTIS L. LOVE Curtis began with the City of Ocoee as a temporary employee for the Public Works Sanitation department on August 24, 1993. His temporary employment ended on September 30, 1993 and on October 6, 1993 he was hired as a full time employee with the Sanitation department. On March 20, 1995 Curtis was re-classified to a Sanitation Driver I and re-classified again in April 2, 1996 to a Sanitation Driver II. On August 1, 1996 Curtis requested a transfer to the Street department as a Laborer. Curtis is now a Maintenance Worker I in the Public Works Street department. Along with his plaque, Curtis Love will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"The Sports Authority." SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS DAVID A. HARRIS David began with the City of Ocoee as a temporary employee for the Public Works Sanitation department on August 24, 1993. His temporary employment ended on September 30, 1993 and on October 7, 1993 he was hired as a full time employee with the Street department as a Laborer. On October 1, 1997 David was re-classified to a Maintenance Worker I within the Street department. Along with his plaque, David Harris will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"Radio Shack." SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS JOYCE A. MERIDITH Joyce began with the City of Ocoee as a temporary employee for the Finance Department on September 21, 1993. Her temporary employment ended on October 28, 1993 and at this same time Joyce was placed on permanent status as an Accounting Clerk. On March 11, 1996 Joyce received a re-classification to an Accounting Clerk II position. On December 10, 1997 Joyce received a transfer within the Finance department to the position of Buyer for the City. Along with her plaque, Joyce Meridith will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"West Oaks Mall." SERVICE AWARD ' NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 5 YEARS DAVID S. SPEARS David began with the City of Ocoee as a temporary employee for the Public Works department as a refuse collector on October 6, 1993. His temporary assignment ended on October 28, 1993 and on October 29, 1993 David was placed on permanent status within the Sanitation department. On June 9, 1994 David transferred to the Street division of Public Works as a Laborer. On October 1, 1997 he was re-classified as a Maintenance Worker I. On June 1, 1998 he bid on and received a transfer to the Facilities Maintenance division of Public Works as a Facilities Maintenance Worker I employee. Along with his plaque, David Spears will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"Sears" in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS JUDIE F. LEWIS Judie began with the City of Ocoee as a Clerk Stenographer in the Office of the City Clerk. She spent many years in this office and was instrumental in creating the first ever "employee newsletter." To this day, Judie is still responsible for the newsletter which is well received by all employees. On October 1, 1997 Judie was re-classified to the position of Administrative Secretary within the Office of the City Clerk. On June 4, 1998 Judie received a transfer to the Office of the City Manager as an Administrative Secretary. Along with her plaque, Judie Lewis will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"West Oaks Mall." SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS MICHAEL.D. SNYDER On October 25, 1993 Michael has hired by the Public Works Street division as a Laborer on a temporary basis. On November 18, 1993 he became a permanent employee with this division. On October 12, 1995 Michael accepted a transfer as a Driver I in the Sanitation department so that a co-worker would not lose his job as a result of points he had accumulated on his drivers license. On April 2, 1996 Michael was re-classified to a Sanitation Driver II. On August 3, 1998 Michael finally received his long awaited transfer back to the Street division as a Maintenance Worker I. Along with his plaque, Michael Snyder will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"Sears" in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS CAROLYN J. BLOOM On November 22,1993 Carolyn began working for the City of Ocoee Utility department as a Utility Service Worker I. Carolyn is one of the first women to be hired in this role and has trained many of the Utility Service Workers that have been hired by this department. She is an excellent role model for women that work in non traditional jobs. Along with her plaque, Carolyn Bloom will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"Parisian" in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 5 YEARS MICHAEL L.ALEXANDER On November 22, 1993 Michael began his career in Law Enforcement with the Ocoee Police department. Michael has obtained his Bachelors degree through the City of Ocoee Educational Incentive program and is currently working on obtaining his Masters degree through this same program. Michael jokes around and tells us that someday we will be calling him"officer Doctorate Alexander"because he plans to go all the way and get his Doctorate degree through the Educational Incentive program. Along with his plaque, Michael Alexander will receive a City watch and a$50.00 gift certificate to spend at"West Oaks Mall." SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 10 YEARS JULIAN R. HARPER On October 10, 1988 Julian Harper was hired by the City of Ocoee to work in the Planning department as an Associate Planner. On January 10, 1990 Julian became a Senior Planner. On October 10, 1993 through a re-organization of the Building and Planning departments Julian was transferred to the Building department as a Zoning Coordinator where he has been since. Julian loves plants and is involved with the trees that get planted by developers. _ Along with his plaque, Julian Harper will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 10 YEARS FERRON YOUNG Ferron Young began working for the Public Works department in the Sanitation division as a collector. On October 1, 1992 Ferron was promoted to a Sanitation Driver I. On February 28, 1993 Ferron requested a transfer to the Street division of Public Works as a Laborer. On October 1, 1997 was re-classified and transferred to the Parks division of Public Works as a Maintenance Worker I. Along with his plaque, Ferron Young will receive a$100.00 gift certificate to spend at "Sears" in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT, MAYOR 15 YEARS STEVEN J. GOCLON Steven Goclon began working for the City of Ocoee Police department in the old days of October 1, 1983 when Police Officers were called PATROLMEN. On October 1, 1984 he became a Detective and on October 1, 1986 he was promoted to Detective Corporal. Steve received a promotion again to Sergeant on August 18, 1987. Steve remained a Sergeant for many years until he was promoted to Lieutenant on October 1, 1985. Steve has received his Associates degree through the City of Ocoee Educational Incentive program and is currently working on his Bachelors degree through this same program. Along with his plaque, Steven Goclon will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at Borders in Ocoee. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 15 YEARS DONAL "TONY" BROOKS On October 3, 1983 Tony started with the City of Ocoee Recreation department. He was hired on as a Groundskeeper. On October 3, 1989 he was transferred to the Public Works Department as a Laborer for the Street division. On May 27, 1993 Tony was promoted to Sanitation Driver I until October.12, 1995 when he transferred to the Parks division of Public Works as a Laborer. On October 1, 1997 he was re-classified to a Maintenance Worker I in the Parks division. Along with his plaque, Tony Brooks will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at Sears in the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 15 YEARS • DAVID R. GOSNELL On April 1, 1984, David Gosnell was hired by the City of Ocoee as a Water Technician. On November 7, 1985 he became an Assistant Supervisor in the Water department. David went on to school and received his Class "C" license on February 6, 1986 and continued on to receive his Class "B" license on May 22, 1986. On October 1, 1989 David was re-classified to a Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator and continuing with his schooling received his Class "A"license. As a Supervisor David constantly encourages his employees to continue on with educational certifications. Along with his plaque, David Gosnell will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at "West Oaks Mall." SERVICE AWARD NOVEMBER 3, 1998 PRESENTED BY: S. SCOTT VANDERGRIFT,MAYOR 15 YEARS LARRY W.BRAS On April 1, 1984, Larry Bras was hired by the City of Ocoee Fire department as a Firefighter. At that time Larry worked in the only Fire station we had. On May 13, 1985 Larry was promoted to Engineer and on May 9, 1986 he received a promotion to Lieutenant. Larry has trained many of the Firefighter rookies through the years and does a great job of it. Along with his plaque,Larry Bras will receive a$150.00 gift certificate to spend at Sears in the West Oaks Mall.
