Re: Appointments to Education Commission (2 year terms) (City residents only)
The Resolution creating the Education Commission provides for membership of seven to fifteen
members. At present, the membership includes five members with terms ending August, 2W1,
five members with terms ending August, 2000 who are willing to serve again, and two members
with terms ending July or August, 2000 who do not wish to be reappointed. Three members
have resigned.
Members Lester Dabbs (Chairman) and Tamela Vercamen whose terms end July and August,
2000, respectively, do not wish to be considered for reappointment.
Members Sherrall Applegate, Than Hooper, Inge M. Loeffler, Berwyn Oltman and
Rosemary Wilsen, whose terms end August, 2000, are willing to serve new terms should you
wish to reappoint them.
Member Jeffrey Morin has resigned from a term ending August, 2000, and Members Cassie
Lindenauer and Kathie Glass have resigned from terms ending August, 2001.
Attached are one application, a current member listing and a brief description of City boards.
Staff Recommendation
As applicants are available to fill vacancies, staff respectfully recommends that the Honorable
Mayor and City Commissioners:
a. Appoint member to replace Member Dabbs for term ending August, 2002.
b. Appoint member to replace Member Vercamen for term ending August, 2002.
c. Reappoint Members Applegate, Hooper, Loeffler, Oltman and Wilsen for terms ending
August, 2002.
d. Appoint member to replace Member Morin for term ending August, 2002.
e. Appoint members to complete terms of Members Lindenauer and Glass for terms ending
August, 2001.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT (City residents only/not City employees)
Meets as needed

Duties: Ti hear and decide appeals for administrative review; hear and recum rend to
Cityy Commission variances toLhe zcm umq ordinance.
CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT (Ocoee residents, owners of real
property, members of OPD, owners of businesses - per CACOPD Ay-Taws)
Meets 3rd Thursdays, alternate months, 7:00 p.m.
No less than 15 members, no e than 25 members - 3 year terms
Duties: To promote and maintain communication, cooperation and a positive relationship
between the citizens of the City of Ocoee and the Ocoee Police Department.
CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD (City residents only)
Meets 4th Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m.
7 members, 2 alternates - 3 year terms
(Membership will, when practicable, include an architect, a businessman, an engineer, a
general contractor, a sub-contractor and a realtor) .
Duties: To review infractions of City technical codes, negotiate compliance and impose
fines for failure to comply.
EDUCATION COMMISSION (City residents only)
Meets 1st Mondays, 7:00 p.m.
No less than 1 members, no me than 15 members - 2 year terms

Duties: To improve the quality of education for Ocoee students by serving as an advisory
body to the City Commission on education issues within the City.
PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD (City residents only)

Duties: L advise the City Commission, City Manager and Recreation Director on the
operation of the City's parks, recreational facilities and programs.

5 members: 1 police officer, 1 firefighter, 2 City residents and 5th :nertber chosen by
majority of the previous 4 members. 2 year terms
Duties: General administration and responsibility for the operation of the Retirement
Trust Fund for the City's police officers and firefighters.
