Lakeshore Drive Ocoee, FL 34761-2258 Dear City Commissioners, Please accept this letter as my formal application for the City of Ocoee, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board member position as posted on the "Community Bulletin Board" on July 19, 2000. Parks and Recreation gives opportunities for family unity, personal growth, and helps provide a better understanding of the environment. It would be my pleasure to serve the City of Ocoee, the "Center of Good Living" and the "Pride of West Orange", through my position on the Advisory Board. It is my intent to help provide recreational programming for all interests. This past December, I received an Associates degree from Seminole Community College, with a strong emphasis in biology. I now plan to enroll in the Nursing program at the University of Central Florida. Throughout my academic career, I have demonstrated superior scholastic achievement and have developed strong writing and organizational skills, while learning concepts applicable to the field of Parks and Recreation. The experience I have gained while working at the West Orange Trail has afforded me the chance to use and better these skills. There, I was given several responsibilities including developing, coordinating, and leading recreational programming. I gained experience with a working budget, marketing strategies, public relations, and environmental research. In addition, I previously worked at Howard A. Kelly Park, where I learned the mechanics of a high-volume park by acting as lead lifeguard. While at Kelly Park, I supervised inservice, stand rotation, made schedules, and played an administrative role in the lifeguard office. These opportunities have left me with a working knowledge of Parks and Recreation at a professional level. This combination of academics and job experiences have given me the well rounded qualities which would enable me to become an integral part of a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, such as the one at the City of Ocoee. I have enclosed my resume for your review and look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Angelique Bowen Angelique J. M. Bowen 2614 Cedar Bluff Lane, Ocoee, Florida 34761 (407)291-8443 Objective My goal is to obtain a fulfilling position in parks and recreation, in a dynamic, team-oriented environment were I can contribute my skills and grow as a professional.
