Shira, Community Relations/Projects Director Subject: Grant Request for City Team Back in May, the American Heart Association approached the City asking whether the employees would like to form a team or teams to participate in its annual American Heart Walk. A notice was sent out to all employees asking if they were interested. A group of Fire Department employees expressed interest in forming a team. This event is similar to the one held by the American Cancer Society where the City also sponsored an employee team. The walk is scheduled for October 22, 2000. The Fire Department is requesting a $500 donation towards their efforts, which is the same amount given to the Relay for Life Team earlier this year.
