STAFF REPORT
To: Honorable Mayor
Board of City Commissioners .l
From: Bruce Nordquist, CLP, Recreation Director b IV
Date: September 16, 1999
RE: Netting at Sorenson
Issue: To prevent baseballs from going into backyards of citizens at Bob Sorenson Baseball
Complex
Background: There have been two attempts to contain the foul balls from going over the
backstops and hitting homes at Sorenson Ballfields. This project will allow the netting to be
installed directly over homeplate using poles and cables to ensure foul balls hit the net. A
similar project was completed at the Maitland Little League Complex and has been very
successful. We have received one quote from Modern Lighting for $5300.00. This is a special
project and very difficult to receive bids on,
Recommendations: The staff recommends the netting project be given to Modem Lighting for
$5300.00 and the monies to finance the project be taken from the contingency account which
currently has a balance of$87,158.28.
