_ ISSUE:
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the purchase
of two flail mowers?
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
You approved $7,500 in the FY 99/00 Capital budget to purchase one flail mower for
the street department. At that time we were unable to locate any flail mowers on State
Contract. The budgeted amount of$7,500 was based on the retail price of a flail
mower. Recently we became aware that Alamo brand mowers are available on Florida
State Contract. We are able to purchase two flail mowers under State Contract, and
still not exceed the approved$7,500. They are available on State Contract for$3,688
each. We currently need two mowers to replace a mower beyond economical repair
and due to the increased mowing requirement at new park sites.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully requested that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners
approve the purchase of two flail mowers for$7,376.00 and piggy back on the State
Contract for$3,688 each.
