Since so many things have been happening with the City's television station,we wanted to
provide you with an update.
The booth is now 95% complete. We want to publicly thank Denver Music, Eddie Hornsby,
David Spears, and Ben Stone for all their hard work and patience. The booth was actually built
under budget which allowed us to do some extra things that came up along the way.
The equipment purchased with the Time Warner funds acquired through franchise negotiations
has been ordered and, with a few exceptions, has been received and installed. This equipment
includes studio cameras, monitors for those cameras, a new switcher, and VCRs which will allow
us to play programming produced by other agencies. Most of this equipment will be used for in-
studio program production—meetings and programs based in the Commission chambers. The
new cameras will greatly improve the video quality of our channel. They are professional grade
as opposed to the security cameras we were previously using. We were able to afford to replace
two of the three chamber cameras.
Karl has also been working extensively to improve the wiring for the audio in the chambers.
This is a little more involved and was not something we originally budgeted for. As with many
construction projects, as we tore things apart to install new components, we uncovered problems
that needed to be addressed(especially wiring). Inexpensive "fixes" are being handled now and
other issues are being noted to address as funds become available.
We are currently ordering the field camera and editing equipment that was recently approved out
of forfeiture funds. This camera will allow us to shoot footage outside the studio and with the
editing equipment,we can then create some high-quality programming.

OGTV Update
April 6, 2001
Our objectives for the next few months are:
• To continue to cover the City Commission meetings as well as the Planning &Zoning
Board and Code Enforcement Board meetings. All these meetings will be carried live
and will be rebroadcast in the weeks following. We would also be happy to broadcast
any other board meetings as they warrant coverage.
• To start airing programming that is available to us through other agencies. These
programs will be scheduled as they relate to projects the City is involved in or as
appropriate to the time of year. For example,
April
April is "Water Conservation Month". Because of this and the City's
POWR Program,we will be airing several programs produced by the
American Water Works Association(AWWA), the St. Johns River Water
Management District (SJRWMD), and other similar agencies.
May
"National Drinking Water Week" and"National Groundwater Awareness
Week"will both be celebrated May 6-12, 2001. We have collected a few
programs on tape that go along with these events. We will also be
focusing on programs to help people prepare for hurricane season which
officially starts June 1.
June
June is "Recycling Month". We are currently seeking videos to air on that
subject. We will also continue with hurricane preparedness tapes.
These are just a few examples to illustrate how we plan to develop our programming
month to month. As we progress, our ultimate goal is to be working about two to
three months out to plan actual programming schedules. Although we will always
remain flexible to add things as the need arises, this will provide a method to
advertise our programming enough in advance to the people who get our channel.
We have met with all departments and will continue to encourage them to work with us
to develop a programming calendar as well as a video library. We are also available now
to shoot our own programs in the studio (chambers) and as soon as we get the field
camera, we'll be able to shoot programs outside the studio as well. We have permission
from West Orange High School to use their editing equipment during their off hours until
we receive our new equipment sometime in the next month or two.
And, of course, any program ideas the Mayor and City Commissioners have are also
welcomed. Please feel free to call or e-mail Karl and schedule a convenient time to
discuss your ideas or specific program objectives. We also want to encourage you to call
Karl to schedule a tour of the booth and see the new equipment if you haven't already
done so.
