Proclamation
WHEREAS, the police officers of Ocoee and America have worked devotedly and selflessly
• in behalf of the people of this city, regardless of the peril or hazard to
themselves; and
WHEREAS, these officers have safeguarded the lives and property of their fellow Americans;
and
WHEREAS, by the enforcement of our laws, these same officers have given our city and our
country internal freedom from fear of the violence and civil disorder that is
presently affecting other nations; and
WIIEREAS, law enforcement is one of the few chosen professions that require the
willingness to lay down one's life to protect others; and
WHEREAS, the daily performance of a law enforcement officer's normal duty is dangerous,
stress-filled, often unappreciated, and requires a special person with a
supportive family; and
WHEREAS, the Ocoee Police Department is comprised of the finest officers, supervisors,
dispatchers, administrative and support staff that can be found; and
WHEREAS, these men and women by their patriotic service and their dedicated efforts have

proclaim the week of May 13-19, as
POLICE WEEK
in the City of Ocoee, and further proclaim May 15, 2001, as
PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY
in the City of Ocoee, and I encourage all citizens of Ocoee to show support for all law
enforcement personnel and to show respect for those who have fallen in the line of duty by
wearing a blue ribbon.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto have set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
