BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION In order to temporarily close a public street, the approval of the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners is required. Ms. Rosemary Davis of the Sawmill Subdivision has made application to the City for a Special Events Permit for a High School Graduation Party that would require the temporary closing of a City owned street. The event will be held on May 26, 2001, from 7pm until 12am. The street to he closed is the cul-de-sac of Woodgrain Court. See attached location map. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff respectfully recommends approval with the following requirements: 1) All residents that will be affected by the road blockage must be notified ill advance; 2) Health Central Ambulance must be notified of the road closure in advance; 3) Roads must be blocked with proper barricades; 4) An emergency lane must be maintained during the event. Date S9O / --. - Dear Neighbors, On Wednesday, May 23, our son Todd, aka TJ, will graduate from West Orange High School. We would like to share our joy with everyone, especially all of you who have watched him grow from a little boy to a young man. We would like to celebrate on Saturday the 26th with a party in our cul-de-sac. We would like to close off the cul-de-sac so that everyone can enjoy himself or herself listening to music, eating good food, and celebrating our joy as we did on New Year's Eve. We will ask the City to approve a street closing from 8:00 p.m. -12:00 a.m. if we have each neighbor's signature who would be affected. We would also like to thank all of you for participating in fundraisers, playing ball, or watching out for Todd as he grew up.
