(407)905-3100 NANCY J.PARKER or coot CFI MANAGER JIM GLEASON STAFF REPORT DATE: May 8, 2001 TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners FROM: Russ Wagner, AICP, Director of Planning Ij SUBJECT: BP /Amoco Station #60677 Y Special Exception Extension Project# 1-3SE-99 ISSUE: Should the Mayor and City Commissioners approve a twelve (12) month extension to the Special Exception for a proposed BP/Amoco Station? BACKGROUND: The proposed Amoco Station site is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Clarke Road and Silver Star Road. The subject property is approximately 1 acre in size and is zoned C-2, which allows a convenience commercial use with gas sales as a Special Exception. The current Special Exception for this use was approved by the City Commission on May 16, 2000. DISCUSSION: The applicant's agent has requested a twelve (12) month extension due to a corporate restructuring in order to finish processing building plans for the new station. (See attached letter from Scott Glass). They believe this extension will enable BP /Amoco to proceed with their site plan reviews and get the station constructed immediately thereafter. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff respectfully recommends that the Mayor and City Commissioners approve a twelve (12) month extension to the Special Exception for BP / Amoco (Case #1-3SE-99), to be constructed by May 16, 2002 in accordance with all the Conditions of Approval in the original Special Exception approved May 16, 2000. Lakeshore Drive Ocoee, FL 34761 RE: Request for Extension of Special Exception: BP/Amoco, NEC Clarke& Silver Star Dear Carolyn: Thank you for your fax of April 26'h regarding our request for an extension of the existing special exception for Parcel # 16-22-28-8041-00-020. I am returning herewith the completed form and hereby requesting a one year extension of the special exception plan, dated March 8, 2000, received by Ocoee on May 3,2000, and approved by the Ocoee City Commission on May 16,2000 under Agenda Item No.VI.B. As we discussed with Russ and Robby at our pre-application meeting, the delay in development was caused by a merger and reorganization of the corporate ownership. We will be submitting our small scale site plan application shortly and expect to proceed diligently thereafter towards the development of the property. Please note that the original of this letter and the application are following by regular mail. Given the imminent expiration of the special exception, however, I wanted to get you at least a fax copy as soon as possible. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. If you have any questions or comments, or if I have overlooked anything, please do not hesitate to call me. Sincerely, Scot c: Jonathan Ballow(w/o encl.) Kc'i Hardy(w/o encl.)
