Dear Janet:
The Saint Johns River Water Management District congratulates you on the development of a
unique water conservation campaign and program. The creativity of your campaign strategy has
established a recognizable continuity for your ongoing programs. The delightful six-foot Dr. H2O
mascot will keep the community's values of conservation vibrant and alive as it appears at local
festivals, in the schools and through the local newspaper column to 'Ask Dr. H20" about water
issues. The POWR logo with the 'R' as a faucet with a water drop is also very catchy and always a
reminder to the entire community to "Protect Ocoee's Water Resources".
We would enjoy presenting before your City Commission a $7,500 grant check to cover 50
percent of the expenses to develop this effective campaign. We would be honored to speak before
the City Commission to bring recognition to Ocoee's water conservation efforts and further
strengthen our partnership. Please let me know when we may address the Commission.
Now that you have built community recognition for Dr. H2O and the importance of"Protecting
Ocoee's Water Resource" we look forward to further supporting efforts to bring educational and
conservation opportunities to the community. Some effective campaigns could include rain gauge
give-aways, and rain-sensor or toilet rebate programs, where actual water savings could be tracked
and documented.
We are also looking forward to the exciting Xeriscape landscape demonstration project in front of
City Hall. This will be a wonderful place for people to enjoy a colorful and luscious landscape
that conserves water and attracts birds and butterflies, where folks can sit and relax. We will assist
in making this a real part of yours—and our District's—community through the SJR Xeriscape
Landscape Demonstration cost sharing program, providing 50 percent of the cost to install
appropriate plant material, signage and irrigation system.

We will work with you to create a design that will facilitate public use and enjoyment, and to
develop a long-term maintenance plan that will ensure that the landscape continues in good health
with the best conservation management practices available. We will support the long term success
of the maintenance aspects through educational workshops to City staff maintaining the landscape
and to your POWR Team so you all can further share these best management practices with the
community at large.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and commitment to preserving and protecting Florida's water
resources.
Sincerely, p ,
