RE: Gibbs & Register Sidewalk Contract
ISSUE:
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve extending the
Gibbs & Register's sidewalk contract to September 30, 2002?
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Gibbs & Register has agreed to hold their price for sidewalk repair, replacement, and
installation to the same as in their current contract (copy of agreement letter attached).
This contract extension will allow Public Works the flexibility to use the contractor or in
house personnel as the work load and situation warrants. This year's street budget
contains $40,000, for sidewalk maintenance (5303).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff respectfully requests the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners
approve extending Gibbs and Register's contract to September 30, 2002.

Subject: Miscellaneous Concrete Sidewalk Prices—FY2002 Program
Dear Mr. Smith:
This letter is to confirm my conversations with Buddy Elmore on 7/20/01 regarding pricing
for the extension of our contract for an additional year for the construction of concrete
sidewalks at various location throughout the city. The Contract(ITB#B00-06 Part A,
dated 7/18/01 shall be the basis for any task orders issued in the upcoming year.
Our unit prices are as follows:
1) 4"thick sidewalk(5 ft wide): $ 15.50/1f
-- This rate is the equivalent of our$27.90/sy

2) 4"thick sidewalk removal(5 ft wide): $ 8.65/1f
-- This rate is the equivalent of our$70.00/ton
Contract unit price
3) 6"thick sidewalk(5 ft. wide): $ 17.50/If
4) 6"thick sidewalk removal (5 ft wide): $ 13.00/1f
-- This rate is the equivalent of our$70.00/ton

We look forward to the opportunity to work with the City again in the coming year.
We are also prepared to schedule any work that you have available beginning in
mid-October.
