Re: The first Telecommunicator of the Month Award presentation
For some time now the Communications Department has wanted to implement an ongoing
program that would provide a method for recognizing our Communications Department
personnel for consistent high levels of job performance and/or exemplary performance of their
duties under extreme and/or unusual circumstances. After speaking with several members of the
Police Department we decided to adopt the same type of"Officer of the Month" program that
has been so successful for them.
Those recognized as 'l elecommunicator of the Month and/or Year will receive a framed
Certificate recognizing their achievement, and their names will be engraved upon a twelve-
month plaque, which will be on permanent and prominent display along the hallway wall of
honor leading to the Communications Center.
It is our great pleasure to announce that Communications Officer Julie Johnson has been
selected as the very first Telecommunicator of the Month for the City of Ocoee Communications
Department.
Julie is being honored for the extraordinary performance of her duties on the afternoon of
November 30, 2001. Julie provided pre-arrival CPR instructions to the very upset mother of a
non-breathing 1 I/2 month old infant. By staying calm and providing positive reinforcement
instructions, Julie helped the mother help her baby and together they were able to get the baby
breathing before Rescue arrived on the scene. Advanced Life Support measures were initiated
and the baby was transported to the hospital screaming at the top of her lungs.
Approximately two weeks ago Lt. Seaver notified us that he had seen the mother with her baby
at the supermarket and that the baby was doing very well.
Please join us in extending our heart-felt congratulations to Julie for her selection as the very
first Telecommunicator of the Month! This award can only be a token of our appreciation for a
job very well done!
Mr. Mayor, we would be honored if you would present the certificate of achievement and
recognition plaque to Communications Officer Julie Johnson on our behalf
