RE: McKey Street Project—Property Dedication
ISSUE
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners grant an easement to David and Terry
Long, the owners of Lots 16, 17, and 18 of Block 3 of the Map of Ocoee?
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
As part of the McKey Street Project, the Longs have agreed to dedicate a strip of land along
McKey Street (parts of Lots 16, 17, and 18) in order for the City to provide more on-street
parking. Dedicating this property to the City prohibits vehicular access from Lots 16 and 17 to
McKey Street.
In order to guarantee access to their business and residence, the Longs are requesting an
easement be granted to them over the current alleyway that begins at Cumberland Avenue and
runs along the north property line with Lots 16, 17, and 18.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff respectfully recommends that the City Commission approve the easement so that the City
Attorney can add that language to the property dedication to be recorded with Orange County.
The City Attorney has reviewed all the paperwork for the dedication and can answer any
questions the Commission may have.
