RE: Naming of New Parks
BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocoee will be developing a 10 acre park (Ocoee South Park) located east of Maguire
Road and directly north of the Windsor Landings subdivision in the very near future.
DISCUSSION:
At the November 20, 2001 City of Ocoee Commission meeting, the Commission approved
entering into a contract with Spillis Candela DMJM for design and construction documentation
for the development of South Park. HHI a Subcontractor of Spillis Candela has begun working
on the design and construction documentation and are seeking the official name of the park.
As you are aware, the City also has two (2) other park sites it will be developing in the coming
years, and these parks will also need to be named. They are Hackney Prairie Park and the Coke
Property.
Where as the names of these two parks can be decided later, it is now very important to determine
the name of the South Park site.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Commission provide a name for the South Park Development at will
be used to identify the park. r\\ ,\

The name can remain South Park or something else that the Commission deems appropriate.
A decision needs to be made sometime during the month of January 2002.
