SERVICE AWARD DECEMBER 17, 2002 Presented by : Scott Vandergrift, Mayor 5 Years Evelyn Goitia On December 4, 1997, Evelyn was hired as a Communications Operator for the City of Ocoee Police Department. Through the years, Evelyn has maintained her training and recertifications in CPR, 911, TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf), Department of Law Enforcement FCIC and EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch). Evelyn's ability to speak, write and translate Spanish fluently, is a valuable asset to have in the Communications Center. She also dedicated her time to complete the CERT Training and Citizens Police Academy. In July, Evelyn was named Communication Officer of the month. Whenever a helping hand is needed, you can always count on Evelyn to be there. Thank you for your years of dedication to the City of Ocoee. Along with her plaque, Evelyn will receive a City of Ocoee watch, and $50.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD DECEMBER 17, 2002 Presented by: Scott Vandergrift, Mayor 15 Years Bruce Combs On December 9, 1987, Bruce was hired as a Police Officer for the City of Ocoee. During his 15 years of service with the Police Department, Bruce has experienced several positions including Road Patrol, Traffic, TACT, Background Investigator, Traffic Homicide Investigator, Field Training Officer, Police Instructor and Evidence Technician. On June 9, 1994 until January 22, 1996, Bruce held the position of Detective. From Detective, he was promoted to Police Sergeant, having supervised Road Patrol, COPS Unit, K-9 Unit, Police Auxiliary, Boat Patrol and SET Team. Bruce has been working diligently towards his Bachelor degree, with very few classes remaining. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, weight training, coaching little league, spending time with his family and staying active in their church. When asked, "What was a memorable moment in his career?" Bruce stated, "While he was a Detective working with the FBI solving bank robberies, he assisted in solving 4 bank robberies in the City within a 2 month period." Bruce, thank you for your dedication to the City of Ocoee. Along with his plaque, Bruce will receive $150.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall. SERVICE AWARD DECEMBER 17, 2002 Presented by: Scott Vandergrift, Mayor 15 Years Fred Ostrander On December 31, 1987, Fred joined the City of Ocoee as a Wastewater Lead Operator when the City took over Prima Vista Utilities. Prior to working for the City, Fred worked for other Utilities/Municipalities with 13 years of experience and knowledge. Fred is a certified Class "C" and Class "B" Wastewater Operator as well as a certified Class "C" Water Operator. In the year of 1989, Fred's position changed to Chief Plant Operator. February of 1991, restructure to the Utilities Department took place presenting Fred with the title of Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Currently, Fred is working on the next level of certification in wastewater, Class "A" license. When Fred is away from the responsibilities of work, he enjoys riding his motorcycle exploring new territory. Your years of dedication to the City is greatly appreciated. Along with his plaque, Fred will receive $150.00 gift certificate to spend at the West Oaks Mall.
