Background Last year the City of Ocoee partnered with the St. Johns River Water Management District to design and build the POWR park that is located along Bluford Avenue in front of City Hall. The park was built to showcase plants that are either native to Florida or drought tolerant. It serves as a demonstration project for what people can plant in their yards and at their businesses to help Ocoee in its efforts to conserve water. Discussion In order to provide general information on the POWR Program, and specific information about the plants in the park, staff would like to add a kiosk in the park. Attached are three proposals for different types of structures. Because the kiosk is more than $1,500 and is not already included in the City's Capital Improvements Program, Commission approval is needed before the kiosk may be purchased. David Wheeler, Public Works Director, has agreed to have his department install the kiosk, including any painting, concrete work, and assembly of the structure. We anticipate the additional materials (concrete, paint, etc.) to be less than $1,000. Recommendation Staff respectfully recommends purchasing the kiosk from RCP Shelters, Inc. for $4,200. The kiosk from REP Services, Inc. is comparable, but is $1,000 more. The message board quote from The Sign Factory does not have a roof which we believe is important to keep the information out of the weather.
