Wheeler, P.E., AQ�✓ Director of Public Works DATE: March 25, 2003 RE: Florida Department of Transportation Renewal of Highway Maintenance Contract #AL454 State Job #244298-1-72-05 The City of Ocoee contracts with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for maintenance of the rights-of-way (ROW) along the FDOT controlled roadways within the Ocoee City Limits. The City has been assisting the FDOT for the past eight years in the maintenance of the FDOT ROWs. That maintenance consists of trash and debris cleanup and mowing of the grass areas. The roadways are Colonial Drive, Silver Star Road, Bluford Avenue, McKey Street, Taylor Street, and Franklin Avenue. FDOT requires that a yearly contract be executed between both parties; this contract will run from May 1, 2003, to April 30, 2004. The attached copy is this year's contract. Please note that FDOT has included a 3% increase over last year and the total contract is in the amount of$36,153. The Public Works Department does not have any problem with this contractual arrangement nor the cost of the reimbursement from FDOT. City forces perform this work; it is not contracted out in the City's lawn maintenance program. The Public Works Department recommends acceptance of this year's contract with the Florida Department of Transportation for maintenance of the roadway rights-of-way in the amount of$36,153 and requests that the City Commission authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the contract.
