ISSUE:
Should the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve utilization (piggyback)
of the Seminole County's Master Contract#A/B-302101/GG &Amendment#1-A/B-3021 with
Traffic Control Devices (TCD), Inc. for the construction of the traffic signal at the intersection of
Bluford Avenue and Orlando Avenue?
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
The construction of the new Fire Station at the southwest quadrant of the intersection of Bluford
Avenue and Orlando Avenue will require installation of a full traffic signal at this intersection.
The traffic signal is designed with pre-emption features for use by the emergency vehicles to
safely access the intersection while ensuring the optimum efficiency and safety of the motorists.
In order to maximize the savings in construction dollars and to reduce the time for procurement
of the mast-arms for the traffic signal, utilization (piggyback) of the current Seminole County's
Master Contract#A/B-302101/GG &Amendment#1-A/B-3021 is recommended.
Construction drawings have been prepared and approved for the traffic signal. The estimated
cost of the traffic signal is $78,000.00 to be funded from Road Impact Funds (106-541-00-6400).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff respectfully requests the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve
utilization (piggyback) of the Seminole County Master Contract#A/B-302101/GG &Amendment
#1-A/B-3021 for$78,000.00; and authorize the Honorable Mayor and City Clerk to execute the
agreement with Traffic Control Devices, Inc.
