DATE: May 4, 2004
RE: Approval of Master Contract for Sensus Metering Systems
ISSUE:
Should the Mayor and City Commissioners approve and execute the Master Contract by and between the
City of Ocoee and Sensus Metering Systems—North America, Inc.
BACKGROUND:
The Utility Department was asked by the Finance Department to secure a contract with the Sensus
Metering Systems—North America for the procurement of various meter sizes, sensors, housings for the
sensors and the associated bronze, brass and cast iron hardware for the installation of the meters. This
master contract will enable the Utility Department to expedite large meter and accessory purchases for the
City of Ocoee as well as maintaining a consistent pricing of those meters and installation parts.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Ocoee desires to reduce cost associated with accurately measuring, recording, and reporting
the types and quantities of products the City of Ocoee provides to its customers. Sensus Metering
Systems will provide those products as outlined in Exhibit"A"attached to the master contract.
The term of the Agreement will be in effect for one (1) year and following the completion of the initial
one (1) year term, the contract may be renewed on an annual basis, at the sole discretion of the City of
Ocoee for five (5) additional one (1) year terms to be mutually agreed to by all parties to the contract.
Each renewal period can be rescinded by a succeeding administration.
The City of Ocoee currently uses the Sensus Metering System exclusively and is in the process of
converting pre-existing (non-Sensus) meters to the Sensus Metering System with the ultimate goal of
converting the City of Ocoee's meter reading process to a Sensus radio read system.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve and execute the Master Contract by and between the
City of Ocoee and Sensus Metering Systems —North America, Inc. to improve and enhance all future
purchasing processes for the equipment and associated parts from this vendor.
