FOR THE OCOEE POLICE DEPARTMENT MEETING
HELD JULY 25, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Garone called the meeting to order. The board observes a moment of
silence, Member Mann lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT
Member Ball, Member Laney, Chairperson Garone, Member Lewis, Member Orme,
Member Anderson, Member Lomneck, Member Mann, Member Braunskill, Member
Wilson-Brown. Also present Sgt. Mireya Iannuzzi and Recording Clerk Maria Serrano.
ABSENT
Member Lovejoy(absent excused), Member Hill (absent unexcused), Member Simon
(absent unexcused)
DETERMINATION OF QUORUM
Declared by Recording Clerk Serrano.
APROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MAY 23, 2019 MEETING
Chairperson Garone made a motion to approve the minutes from May 23, 2019.
Member Laney requested the following correction be made to the minutes;for
Accreditation the line should read, "The department will be assessed in July as a step in
the accreditation process".
Member Laney seconded, the motion is unanimous.
NEW BUSINESS
New Members Mann, Wilson-Brown and Braunskill introduced themselves.
Update of Events
Sgt. Iannuzzi provided an update on upcoming events. The Chaplin Unit will be cleaning
up Blue Jay Way, the trail leading to Spring Lake Elementary School. On August 7th,the
department will host a competition blood drive with the fire department. The Teen Police
Academy will take place this summer for local middle school students. The final Cookies
and Milk with A Cop will take place on July 261h, the program will resume during winter
break. Member Laney complimented that the event provided gluten-free cookies and

almond milk. Sgt. Iannuzzi announced that the first day of school is August 12th' and the
department will now have school resource officers at every school in Ocoee.
OFFICER OF THE QUARTER
Chairperson Garone opened the discussion by complimenting Ofc. McPhee for a positive
interaction.
Member Laney nominates officer #2. Chairperson Garone seconded, the motion is
unanimous.
Sgt. Iannuzzi informed the board they have chosen Ofc. Duane Hunt to be the Officer of
the 2nd Quarter. She further advised the board that the department has started presenting
Quarterly and Yearly awards differently. Previously, these awards were presented during
a regular commission meeting; they will now be presented by Chief Brown at the police
department. The board will still be invited to attend.
SURVEY UPDATE
Chairperson Garone provided an update.
BYLAWS AND CHARTER
Chairperson Garone went over the bylaws and charter of the board. Member Orme
asks how often the bylaws are reviewed and updated, Member Laney stated the last
update was in 2010. This item is added to a future agenda and the board will revisit.
SENIOR EVENT
Member Laney informed the board that the Ocoee Senior Center will not be hosting this
event. She stated that she would still like to host an event geared towards our senior
residents and that she will be looking into other locations.
PROMOTIONAL ITEMS
Sgt. Iannuzzi informs the board that the promotional clips the board chose arrived, and
have been distributed at a few events. Member Laney requested the board's brochure to
be handed out with the clips.
HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION ENGAGEMENT
Chairperson Garone will be reaching out to a some of the local HOA boards to invite
them to the meeting.

TREASURER REPORT
Member Lomneck asked how the board can request an increase in the budget. Sgt.
Iannuzzi will verify with the City Clerk what steps need to be taken.
Member Lomneck motions the board request an increase the funds the board receives.
Chairperson Garone seconded, the motion is unanimous.
DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Sgt. Iannuzzi informed the board that the department has been recommended for
Accreditation.
COMMENTS/QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
Member Orme complimented the department on the Public Safety Academy, and Ofc.
Bode; with whom he completed a Ride-A-Long. Member Mann compliments Sgt.
Iannuzzi and her presence as an officer in the community.
