Battalion Chief Frank Carlsson:
Frank began his professional firefighter career with the Ocoee Fire
Department on April 1 ,1985. Being extremely aggressive, he was
certified as a Paramedic in June of 1986 was promoted to the rank
of Engineer in November of the same year. On March 10, 1994
Frank was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he served
until he was selected and appointed as one of the first three Ocoee
Fire Department Battalion Chiefs in history on January 19, 2004. A
highlight of Frank's career was when he was selected from
hundreds of Central Florida applicants as a member of the highly
trained and elite FEMA Florida Task Force-4 Urban Search and
Rescue Team in 2003.
Chief Carlsson has rendered 22 years of dedicated service to the
City of Ocoee and he will be greatly missed. However, even though
he is retiring from here, Frank isn't done yet. He will still be
serving the public in his new position as a Battalion Chief with The
Villages Fire Department in Lake County.
