event. Captain Bowles asked the board if they would like to help with the Ocoee Founders Day/Chick-Fil-A 5K
Run that takes place Saturday, October 26,2019. Several members expressed interest in participating in the event
to which Chair Vaughn said he would pursue getting more information.
D: Transport Update: Captain Bowles discussed transport numbers. The department is currently averaging just
over 8 transports each shift;this does not include any fire calls the crews are going to in between transports.
Captain Bowles stated the exact number of transports since January 2,2019 is 1,814; and further, that they are
seeing continuous positive revenue from transports.
E: Chief's Comments: Captain Bowles discussed the new engine that should be delivered in October, and
another is in the budget for next year. He stated that once the department has received both units, it should round
out the fleet, allowing for two engines in reserve.
Ocoee Fire Station 38 is currently operating out of leased space in the Publix West Road shopping center, and the
current lease is due to expire on January 1s`with no option to renew. However, there is public bid out for the
build of a new station which would be located directly behind the Taco Bell on West Rd.Additionally, there will
most likely be a need to have a temporary structure/building to be used in the interim, as there will be a gap
between the lease ending and the finished building.
He briefly spoke about the Emergency Operations Center(EOC)that is located at Ocoee Fire Station 25 for
hurricane season. This center is operational during hurricanes to monitor the storm,be available to the public via
phone hotline, and render aid when it is safe to do so. All city departments have personnel that stay for the
duration of the hurricane. There are as many as 30 people that sleep at the station during the activation, and in
preparation, the EOC is stocked with food, supplies and cots for this purpose.
